ROUTE:
The first leg of Bormio 360 is mostly uphill, starting at the Pravasivo parking lot on the Stelvio highway. In the first section, the trail sits above the Stelvio National Park guesthouse and then grafts with a special access ramp onto the Stelvio State Road 38 (Beware of cars!). Continue for about 3 km on asphalt (there are already plans to build an alternative trail, of considerable excitement, in the Adda River source gorge that will avoid the state road, but it will take a couple of more years to build), then turn left to Boscopiano, a dirt road, and continue always on well-trodden dirt road to the little church of Solena, a viewpoint over the Cancano dams. The last stretch is flat and you are immersed in the Stelvio National Park to the other viewpoint over Valdidentro, the Torri di Fraele.
Along this stage there are several rest stops where you can enjoy typical Valtellina dishes: Ristoro Solena, Ristoro Monte Scale and Chalet Villa Valania.
Recharge points: Near the Monte Scale hut at the bike rental.
