Let's go back to the Viking Age and learn Viking Chess. For young and old - a nice community game.

The Vikings had their heyday in the early Middle Ages from 800 to 1050 of our era. They were a very warlike and therefore very travel-loving conquering people. Starting with raids in the Baltic region, they expanded their area of activity in all directions in the following centuries. A game of Viking chess was taken along more often, because due to its versatility it could be played on the deck of the ships.

The era of the Vikings was characterized by community. This is shown, among other things, by the large number of games from this period that are still known today. So it is not surprising that the not so physically demanding games became more and more popular at the native festivals. Thus, at the end of the Viking Age, a communal movement developed around Viking chess. The throwing axes were replaced by throwing sticks and the Viking game was enjoyed by everyone.
