Monticolo Lakes

Together with the Montiggl Forest, the two Montiggl lakes on the South Tyrolean Wine Road form a biotope and recreational area in a particularly favorable climate zone. At the Great Montiggl Lake, a turnoff leads to the idyllic village of Montiggl, a fraction of the municipality of Eppan. Here the Spring Valley takes you in a southerly direction to the basin of Lake Kaltern.

Both lakes are popular destinations from spring to late autumn. On the western shore of the Great Montiggl Lake is the Lido Montiggl Lake with hotel, restaurant, pontoons out onto the lake, a heated swimming pool on the shore and much more. Sun worshippers can relax here on the large sunbathing lawn on the shore, while children have fun on the longest water slide in South Tyrol. In winter, the lakes can freeze over and then - if the ice layer is thick enough - become a popular ice skating rink.
