Zillergrund 903
An unforgettable mountain experience in the Zillertal Alps Nature Park:
The starting point is the Gasthof Adlerblick at the dam wall of the Zillergründl reservoir, easily accessible by bus from Mayrhofen. After a short tunnel, you follow the northern shore of the turquoise lake before trail no. 502 leads through forest and heathland to Keesbach.
From here, the more challenging ascent begins: the trail climbs up the rocky slope in serpentines, well secured. Along the way, you can enjoy an impressive panorama of glaciated peaks such as Reichenspitze and Zillerspitze as well as the sparkling reservoir below you.
On reaching the top, the Plauener Hütte with its fantastic terrace invites you to take a well-earned rest. The descent follows the same route.
