* Hike on the pioneer trail to Monte Piana with Werner

This highly scenic hike to a battlefield of the Dolomite front leads up the Monte Piano via the Pioneer Trail, where during World War I a fierce trench war was fought over control of this strategically important mountain.

The trenches, old war positions, and above all the stunning views of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo, Monte Cristallo, the Fanes mountains, and Croda dei Toni make this tour a truly special experience — but it’s one you have to earn on foot.

A hike that is both historically and scenically rewarding. Start with the hotel shuttle (limited numbers of participants, possibility to follow with your own car).

Total walking time ca. 5,5 hours, altitude difference ca. 950 m.
