Helpful facts

Chi Kung

Chi Kung are standing exercises that promote the flow of energy in the body and help to deepen breathing.

Chi means "strength" or "energy", kung means "to grasp, to take possession of", just like babies do with something new.

These exercises can be performed largely statically with slightly bent knees, or with movement in the arms and synchronized with breathing.

The martial art of Tai Chi Chuan is based on three main pillars, meditation, energy work (Chi Kung) and the Tai Chi Chuan form. Breath control is an essential force that is used for execution. There are numerous exercises to bring the body mentally and physically into a condition that enables the martial art of Tai Chi Chuan to be practiced. I have selected a few of these and described them briefly. The description first serves to help you understand what it is all about.
