Trautenfels Castle stands as a landmark of the middle Enns Valley on a rocky spur at the foot of the Grimming. As a department of the Joanneum, founded in 1811 by Archduke Johann, Trautenfels Castle is one of the youngest buildings of the oldest and second largest museum in Austria, which has been called the Universalmuseum Joanneum since 2009.
