Map & trail around the Three Peaks

From Lago Antorno there is a bus every half hour to the Auronzo Hut, south of the Three Peaks. It is highly recommended to take the earliest bus so that there is a good chance of getting seats! From the Rifugio Auronzo you can walk around these monuments of the Dolomites on the road leading north/east to the Rifugio Lavaredo. At the Lavaredo hut turn left and follow the path up to the Paternsattel. Here you can enjoy the view over the Lange Alm and the Rienzboden and let the power of the Three Peaks take effect on you for the first time. From the Paternsattel, the trail down fairly close to these three prominent peaks is highly recommended, rather than the heavily crowded trail #101 to the Drei Zinnen hut. This trail is only used by a few mountain hikers and allows good views of these rugged peaks and leads to the very well run, down-to-earth "Long Olbe", where a stop is worthwhile and fantastic views can be enjoyed. From the "Long Olbe" the trail leads over the Col di Mezzo saddle back to the Auronzo hut, from where regular buses return to Lago Antorno.
