Sankt - Georg - Straße, 42, Tiers am Rosengarten
Steep rock faces, a striking transition and the feeling of being in the middle of the Rosengarten. This tour combines a short, intense ascent with impressive views and alpine character.
Tour description:
After taking the Tiers cable car to the Frommer Alm and the König Laurin 1 and 2 panoramic cable cars to the Kölner Hütte, we start our hike. Via the Hirzelsteig trail, we make a steep but relatively short ascent to the Vajolon Pass, with a short iron ladder to help us negotiate the rocks. From the pass, we descend to the Rotwand hut and take a break there. We then follow the high-level trail to the Christomannos monument and hike from there on the Hirzelsteig trail back to the Kölner Hütte. We finally return to St. Zyprian using the ascent facilities.
Walking time: approx. 5 hours
Ascent: 550 m
Descent: 550 m
Distance 10.5 km
Difficulty: Technically moderate hike, surefootedness, a head for heights and good basic fitness required
