Nockberge Trail: Hiking Route, Stage 5: Falkertsee – Bad Kleinkirchheim

The Nockberge Trail winds its way through the gentle peaks of the Carinthian Nockberge Mountains over eight day-long stages, leading from Katschberg, across the UNESCO Nockberge Biosphere Reserve, to the thermal baths in Bad Kleinkirchheim, and on to Lake Millsätter. Stage 5 delights with its scenic beauty and breathtaking panoramic views. At the start, the Nockmobil takes us from Bad Kleinkirchheim to Lake Falkert. Accompanied by a biosphere park ranger, we hike up to what is probably the trail’s most famous peak—the Falkertspitz—and descend along the long ridge of the Totelitzen back down to Bad Kleinkirchheim. With a total distance of approximately 11 km, 441 m of ascent, and 1,247 m of descent, the tour does, however, require a certain level of endurance and physical fitness.
