Bergkristall - Mein Resort im Allgäu, Willis 8, 87534, Oberstaufen
From the very moment it was founded by Helmut Schmidt—then Minister of Defense and later Chancellor—the band was tasked with creating a modern sound for a modern army. At its concerts, the audience should hear the hits of their time, the great classics of days gone by, and swing and jazz music that has remained timeless.
Even today, this musical concept—launched 50 years ago—enjoys great popularity and remains as relevant as ever. For example, Presidents of the United States, the Federal President, and even the Pope have all tapped their feet or snapped their fingers to the groove of the Bundeswehr Big Band.
Since its formation in 1971, the Bundeswehr Big Band has performed without a fee—and for good reason. From the very first day, the admission fees—totaling well over 20 million euros—have been used to help people in need.
