When? Every Monday and Thursday (from July 6 to September 10, 2026)

Time: From 9:30 a.m. to approx. 1:00 p.m. (Duration: approx. 3.5 to 4 hours)

Walking time only: Approx. 2 to 2.5 hours

Who is it for? Families with children ages 11 and up (younger children may join if accompanied by parents or guardians)

Group size: Maximum of 12 people

Registration deadline: Always by 6:00 PM the day before

🌲 What exactly is Schluchting?

Schluchting is like the “little brother” of canyoning:

It’s not a normal walk: We hike and climb upstream in the stream bed (upward!). It’s also called a stream-climbing hike.

Rocks & boulders: Under our feet lie scree—small and large stones—that the stream carries away during high water.

Very special & protected: This tour is strictly approved by nature conservation, forestry, and water authorities and is only permitted for a few groups. It takes place very close to the famous Todtnau Waterfall!

In any Black Forest weather: The adventure takes place in the summer when the outside temperature is 10 °C or higher—and it’s still a lot of fun even when it rains! Since the stream is in the forest, it’s nice and shady there.

Climbing in the mountain stream is a real adventure, but it’s not without risk:

Participation is at your own risk: This adventure takes place at your own risk and may involve risks to life and limb.

Fitness & Skill Level: The tour is moderate to difficult. You should be in good physical condition, able to concentrate well, and sure-footed.

The Terrain: The path in the stream can be wet, slippery, uneven, or cool and shaded. How strenuous it will be also depends on the current water level.

Tip for parents: Please read all the information carefully together on the website www.schluchting.de before booking. This will allow you to decide for yourselves whether this tour is the right fit for your family.

Where do we meet?

At 9:30 a.m. at Bergwelt Todtnau near the waterfall.

(Very easy to reach by car or by bus & train / public transit. You’ll receive exact directions immediately after registering via www.schluchting.de)
