Former villain Gru and his wife Lucy are tasked with stopping supervillain Balthazar Bratt—a former child star and '80s fan—from stealing a giant pink diamond. When they fail, the two suddenly find themselves out of a job. In this predicament, Gru meets his previously unknown twin brother Dru, who turns out to be a successful supervillain. Rivalry is inevitable. But then the brothers join forces to steal the diamond back from Bratt.
