Fall is here, and the apples have been picked. To celebrate the harvest, Natz-Schabs hosts its traditional Apple Festival, which draws many visitors every year on the second Sunday in October. Of course, the apple plays the starring role! During the festive parade, a giant apple crown made of 3,000 yellow and red apples catches everyone’s eye. The Apple Festival kicks off with a morning get-together featuring white sausage, pretzels, and music. At 2:00 p.m., the grand parade winds its way through the village, featuring many decorated floats, the festival carriage carrying the guests of honor, and marching bands.
No Apple Festival would be complete without the reigning Apple Queen and her successor. The coronation of the new Apple Queen takes place after the parade. Afterward, everyone celebrates together, samples apples fresh from the harvest, and browses for handmade products at the farmers’ market.
