Tour description:

Starting at an elevation of 1,389 meters, this bike tour begins in St. Jakob in the Defereggental valley. The effort required for this challenging, roughly 35-kilometer-long route is rewarded by the scenic beauty of the area. After several steep climbs, you’ll enjoy the magnificent viewpoints and sights. You’ll climb approximately 600 meters in elevation, riding partly on gravel and partly on asphalt.

The Oberhauser Swiss Stone Pine Forest Nature and Culture Trail offers a charming backdrop, featuring the largest contiguous stand of Swiss stone pines in the Eastern Alps. Nine informational signs provide details about the ecosystem of the Swiss stone pine forest, the flora and fauna, and life on the alpine pasture. The nature trail begins at the Alpengasthof Oberhaus. The Jagdhausalm, located at an elevation of 2,009 meters, is one of the oldest alpine pastures in Austria and consists of 15 stone houses and a church.
