The sound of freedom - of wings and shackles

Freedom is a concept that’s on everyone’s lips today, and as old as humanity itself.

But what does freedom mean to each and every one of us? The Allgäu Jazz Quintet explores this question together with author and actor Hajo Fickus.

The audience can expect a moving yet entertaining program of music, reflections, and stories about a fundamental human need.

In doing so, the ensemble reinterprets texts and music from various eras and social emancipation movements. Musically, jazz—as the music of freedom—plays a central role.

Music and lyrics merge into a single entity, continually opening up new perspectives on a message that could not be more timely and that captures the audience’s attention.
