Music-Theater-Revue of the Collective Zelinzki

A fictional train journey of Erich Kästner in the sixties: In a train compartment he meets a young man with whom he falls into a very private conversation. This is the story of the music-theater revue by the artists' collective Zelinzki. In 13 acts and 14 new settings of Kästner's poems, the development of Germany after the First World War to after the Second World War is sketchily traced in impressive musical and scenic images.

Warning parallels in our present are unmistakable. As Kästner said, it is important to crush the snowball before it becomes an avalanche: Wehret den Anfängen.

‍In cooperation with the Obersalzberg Documentation:

Sebastian Peters, research assistant and curator, introduces the historical background.

During the week of Nov. 18-26, 2023, you can use your event ticket to visit thenew exhibition of the DokumentationObersalzberg free of charge.

Background

Many people are not (or no longer) aware that Hitler and his followers came to power democratically in 1933. And then, step by step, established their inhuman regime of terror. Much of what happened between 1933 and 1945, first in Germany and later in half of Europe, was already described or hinted at in "Mein Kampf".

Would a similar development to that time be unthinkable in today's Federal Republic?

The events of the last years in Europe and the world, one thinks of Hungary, Poland, the USA or Russia, suggest: Rather not.
