Helpful facts

Above the Bachertal valley near Rein in Taufers lies the Kasseler Hütte at 2276 m above sea level. A path connects the village in the valley with the refuge at the foot of the Hochgall, the highest peak in the Rieserferner group. The Kasseler Hütte refuge was built at the end of the 19th century. After the First World War, the hut was assigned to the Roman section of the Italian Alpine Club CAI and is therefore also known as "Rifugio Roma". Whether it's a snack or other homemade South Tyrolean specialties - the hut is a popular stop for locals and holidaymakers alike for good reason. Just 5 minutes from the hut is a small, turquoise-blue mountain lake, the Tristennöcklsee. With the Hochgall towering behind it, it forms a beautiful photo motif.
