Location Rural areas have always shaped social and political development in Austria. The issues that people have campaigned for are diverse: fair working conditions and pay, environmental protection, against the curtailment of rights and much more.
Using various protest movements as examples, the exhibition shows how rural areas have shaped social and political developments over the last 170 years. People have fought against poor working conditions, the curtailment of rights, but also against environmentally destructive measures. A new station has been added to the presentation at the Museum Arbeitswelt. With "Uprising against the dictatorship", the events that led to the loss of democracy in Austria are recalled using the example of Steyr 90 years after the February battles of 1934.
