The sunny side of the Tennengebirge is very popular with nature lovers and mountaineers throughout the summer. You hike towards steep and particularly impressive rock faces, such as the Werfener Hochthron.

Parking lot:
Paid parking lot (2,500 m²) at the end of the valley Wengerau. Please take care not to park on private parking lots of the surrounding residents. Parking on the side of the access road obstructs emergency vehicles!
Directions:
Like an eagle's nest, the Werfenerhütte (1,969 m) lies at the foot of the Hochthron and can be easily reached via two main ascents.
The Wengerau is a scenically enchanting valley end behind Werfenweng. From the large parking lot in the Wengerau, it's a leisurely 10-minute walk to the "Gamsblick". From there, the ascent continues on trail no. 32 across alpine meadows to the Elmaualm (approx. 1:15 h). From the Ellmaualm it is still about 1 h to the Werfener Hütte (trail 32 b).
