For us, hunting our local game is a clear commitment to our homeland, sustainability and closeness to nature. Our approx. 4000 ha large hunting ground extends in front of the doors of the hotel, from the northern shore of the Forggensee into the Ammergebirge up to the 2080 m. above sea level high plateau and is part of the former royal Bavarian court hunt.

The habitat, for the animals living with us, such as roe deer, red deer and chamois, is characterized by cultivated land sheep to high alpine terrain. In order to guarantee a professional but also sustainable hunt, our hunting ground is looked after by a full-time district hunter in addition to ourselves.

Hunting and King Ludwig have always been inseparable. For 40 years now, we have been using all of our venison (game meat) ourselves. Therefore, we do not buy any game meat at the König Ludwig. What is for us a self-conception has established itself under the catchword of "regionality" as an important part of our consumer behavior. True to the motto "nose to tail", we process all parts of the game.

The possibility to have access to such a noble, healthy and special food therefore does not only shape our style of cooking but also our thinking and acting.
