Helpful facts

Linderhof Castle in the Ammergau Alps is the smallest of Ludwig II's three castles and the only one that was completed during his lifetime. Linderhof is considered the "fairy-tale king's" favorite castle, where he stayed by far the most often.

The architectural style was imitated the French "pleasure palace" with a large park. Behind the facade in the baroque style, the rococo unfolds with motifs of the time of King Louis XV. Louis created here, however, by no means a copy of models, but something new, own.

You can also visit the beautiful park with its baroque garden with magnificent water parterres and English garden. In the park there are fascinating buildings such as the Moroccan House, the Moorish Kiosk and the Venus Grotto. The Venus Grotto is currently closed for restoration until further notice!

From the hotel, take the B17 towards Steingaden and continue on Ammergauer Straße until Rottenbuch, where you turn right onto the B23. At Ettal, turn onto Linderhofstraße.

The castle is located at Linderhof 12, 82488 Ettal. The journey takes about 50 - 60 minutes (approx. 58 km).
