The Wieskirche is a remarkably splendidly furnished pilgrimage church in the district of Wies, which belongs to the municipality of Steingaden, in the so-called Bavarian "Pfaffenwinkel". The full name of the Wieskirche is "Wallfahrtskirche zum Gegeißelten Heiland auf der Wies".


It is one of the most famous rococo churches in the world and has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1983.

During the service the church will be closed and not open for tours. (10:00 am to 11:00/12:00 am).


How to get there: By car you need about 30 minutes from Schwangau to the Wieskirche. They drive over the

B17 to Steingaden, in the village turn right and continue on the Ammergauer Straße (signposted).


The public parking lot is on private property north of the Wieskirche, directly on the access road. Private cars can be parked there for a fee. The distance to the church from there is still about 200 meters.
