The path to the Arltörl, which is the deepest cut between Großarl and Dorfgastein and used to serve as a Handeslweg. Directly at the Arltörl is a small chapel.


After that, the path leads you to the Schuhflicker, which is one of three lime mountains here in the Grossarl Valley. According to legend, two Schuhflicker were fossilized here, who preferred to walk on the mountain on Sunday instead of spending Sunday morning in church (that's why two peaks form the Schuhflicker).

On the Arlspitze, which is the front peak, there are also numerous climbing routes.


From the Schuhflicker you have a very nice view of the Schuhflickersee. It is remarkable that there is no inflow and no outflow to this lake, but the water level always remains constant. According to legend, it is connected underground with the Tappenkarsee in Kleinarl, after a wagon wheel that fell into the Tappenkarsee was suddenly found in the small Schuhflickersee...
