ROUTE DESCRIPTION

The hike to Maria Saalen starts at the village church in Montal.

Always following path number 9 in the direction of Maria Saalen, you first walk down to the Gadertaler Straße, cross it on the crosswalk and reach the opposite side of the water-rich Gader via a small wooden bridge.

Here the hike turns into a gently ascending forest and meadow path, on which beautiful views of the now lower lying Montal open up.

After three quarters of an hour of leisurely hiking, you reach the pilgrimage church of "Our Lady of Loreto", the adjacent Widum and the cozy "Saalerwirt" inn, located on the old Gadertal road, which is one of the oldest inns in the Alpine region. Where once God-fearing pilgrims and carters stopped off, culinary delights in a cozy atmosphere still await guests today.
