Snowshoe hike Kienberg

Helpful facts
At the Lechfall we cross the road and come to the parking lot at the Steakhaus. From here the snowshoe tour is marked with yellow-blue signs (Kienberg Schneeschuhrunde).

After a long right turn we turn left. At the next fork in the road we reach a small yellow chapel at the so-called Hirschwiese, where the actual snowshoe tour begins. The tour continues to the right until we reach the next station of the cross. Here you can take a short break before continuing diagonally right through the forest and steeply downhill, following the signs, to the quarry at the Huttlersberg.

The snowshoe trail continues to the left towards the east, to the Königssträsschen along the Schwansee. Here we enjoy the wonderful view of the castles Neuschwanstein and Hohenschwangau to the full. Soon we reach the outskirts of Alterschrofen.

Now we follow the Kienberg Forstweg to the left, past the lime kiln and numerous old quarries. The lime kiln was used for lime mining in former times, an information board informs about it. At the end of the forest path we trudge left again uphill in the direction of Kalvarienberg. The next junction leads us back to the right up to the small chapel. From here we hike back down to the right to the Lechfall.

Starting point: Lechfall Füssen
