Guided hike Schösswendklamm gorge to Hintersee lake

The guided hike through the Schösswendklamm Gorge to Hintersee starts at the Schösswendklamm parking lot or with pickup at the hotel.

Here, at the bottom of the valley near the Schösswendklamm, water has been forcing its way through the rock—composed of biotite, hornblende, and green schist—for thousands of years. This has created remarkable erosional features, potholes, and small waterfalls. We’ll follow the gorge to Hintersee and learn interesting facts about the flora and fauna of the Felbertal, as well as some history about the formation of Hintersee. On the north side of the lake, we’ll follow the loop trail up to a hilltop with a view over the valley head and its imposing rock faces, where chamois roam, and then follow the trail back to our starting point.

Ankle-high hiking boots, weatherproof clothing, plenty of drinking water & snacks; recommended for this moderately difficult mountain hike with 710 Hm

Walking time: approx. 2.5 hours

Return trip: approx. 2:00 p.m.
