Visit to St. Nicholas Church

The church was first mentioned in 1289, extended around 1400 and rebuilt in Gothic style. The tower (made of natural stone masonry) was not built until the 14th century. In 1744, the church was given a baroque onion dome and in 1976, the church and tower were renovated, revealing the Romanesque masonry. During the restoration, an extensive medieval fresco cycle with scenes from the Passion of the Lord, the 12 apostles and prophets was also discovered.
