Viel del Pan at the Pordoi Pass

Historic trail with magnificent views of the Queen of the Dolomites, the Marmolada.

We drive to Alba di Fassa (approx. 45 min), where we take the cable car up to the summit and begin our wonderful circular hike. Past the Fredarola hut at 2,388 m and along the path to the Viel del Pan hut at 2,432 m. From here, you continue on a long route with little difference in altitude and a wonderful view of the "Tofane" until you reach a crossroads. There we turn right and climb up to the Portavescovo 2,478 m where we take a short break. For the way back, we hike back above Arabba towards Passo Pordoi and on to the cable car, which takes us back down again.

Difficulty: Moderately difficult hike, good surefootedness and fitness required!
