To the Natural Paradise of the Tux Alps

Guided Hike from the Zillertal Alps Nature Park

From Stoankasern via Lake Junssee to the Geiergipfel

From the Tux Center, we take the hiking taxi to Stoankasern, home to the Zillertal’s last mountain cheese dairy. From there, the trail first winds through lovely alpine pastureland, accompanied by the curious glances of marmots, which inhabit this area in large numbers. After a few small changes in elevation, our trail turns right, winding its way up a steep grassy slope in several switchbacks and passing through a short rocky section. Once we’ve made it past this, we’re rewarded with the sight of the stunning Junssee, which now lies at our feet. From the lake, the trail winds through the scree slope up to a saddle, from which it’s only a few minutes to the summit of the Geier (2,857 m), where a breathtaking mountain panorama awaits us. After our return hike, the hiking taxi takes us back to Tux-Lanersbach.
