Car-free day on Niger Road

On Sunday, June 14 and Sunday, September 20, 2026, the Niger Road at the foot of the Catinaccio/Rosengarten belongs entirely to cyclists, hikers and families! From 08:30 to 16:00, the route will be closed to car and motorcycle traffic and will be a car-free nature and enjoyment experience in the heart of the Dolomites. The mountain railroads from Welschnofen and Tiers take visitors comfortably and sustainably to the starting point, while inns along the route invite you to stop for a bite to eat.

Bike Special on June 14, 2026

This day is all about bikes: the car-free Niger Road offers ideal conditions to enjoy the route on two wheels in a relaxed and safe manner and with a unique panorama of the Dolomites. Various bike stations along the route are waiting to be discovered - ideal for anyone who wants to try out new things or improve their technique. For children, a dedicated bike course provides fun and first riding experiences.

The central meeting point is the mountain station of the Welschnofen cable car: a variety of workshops take place here and guided bike tours also start directly on site. A band will provide the perfect musical accompaniment to the day - including refreshing drinks on site.

Whether it's sporty on a racing bike, leisurely on an e-bike or an enjoyable tour with a stop for refreshments: this day focuses on the bike experience.

Family Special on 20 September 2026

In September, the car-free day is all about families. Various stations with games, activities and small experiences for young and old await along the route.

These are organized by associations from Tiers and Welschnofen, who are committed to ensuring a varied and lively day. Without traffic, but with plenty of space to discover, move and experience together, the Nigerstraße becomes a relaxed adventure zone in the middle of the Dolomites.
