Details

Geremia Da Zanche

I was born in a small village located in the middle of the mountains of the Dolomites during World War II, on Christmas Day in 1941.

The memories of my early childhood are somewhat faded however from the war certain things and certain feelings accompany you all your life.

I had the good fortune to be born in a clean and orderly, dare I say almost "fairy-tale" country in the midst of green meadows and the majesty of fir, larch and beech forests where each family owned an entire house and where the word pollution was not known to mean. Solidarity and commitment to families who had less was the norm, not the exception.

As a child I attended the only school that existed in the village with classes consisting of five to ten children per class, and the middle school was instead 20 kilometers from my village. I went through meadows and woods often barefoot so as not to wear out the soles of my shoes partly for pleasure, partly to procure firewood and fodder for the cow, the only real food source. In this context, the passion for mountains and climbing is as a logical consequence.

As soon as I turned 13 with my father I went to stuff chairs, in dabbling "counts." It was very hard work; as an emigrant you worked house to house and slept on barns. That winter was running the year 1956, the coldest of the century when the poplars were bursting from the cold.

In later years I was in the seminary in Rome but missed my mountains.

Because of the proximity of my village to Fiera di Primiero and Passo Rolle where I often went climbing, I met the Alpine Rescue officers who were attending rock, ski and ice courses. As soon as I turned seventeen, I applied for enlistment, obtaining my mother's consent with no small effort. The nine years I spent in the Guardia di Finanza most of them in Mountain Rescue were unforgettable years.

In 1965 I was sent to Bormio where I met a pretty young maiden of skiing promise and natural talent. For several decades my wife Clara and I ran a small hotel in the center of Bormio.

In 1992 after years of professional satisfaction and with not a few sacrifices we bought the Miramonti Park Hotel, which I still run with my sons Dario and Lucio.

The rest is recent history.

Dario Da Zanche,

is a former athlete, ski instructor and airplane and helicopter pilot.

So if you need to familiarize yourself with skiing, or some technical advice, he is the right person!

Then if you want to experience the thrill of a helicopter flight, Dario will be happy to show you Bormio from a different (and tall!) perspective!

He was born in Bormio in 1974. Hotelier, former athlete, ski instructor and all-around flying enthusiast.

He graduated from the hotel school of Bormio with the title of Technician of Hotel Activities and still continues with passion and dedication the art of hospitality that has distinguished the family for generations with his brother Lucio and his father Geremia inspired by the valuable teaching of his mother Clara who unfortunately passed away in the first decade of the new millennium.

In the last decade, in addition to running the family's historic hotel, the Miramonti Park Hotel in Bormio, the business expanded to Romagna, Riccione and Santa Caterina Valfurva.

In two thousand he founded the Comitato Organizzatore Manifestazioni Bormiesi (Bormio Events Organizing Committee), thanks to which he organizes national and international events of a tourist and sports nature.

The passion for mountains, sports and competitiveness is a common denominator in the Da Zanche family, and dad put Dario on skis as early as age 3. He militated for several years in the Bormio ski club achieving good results especially in the fast disciplines.

At the age of 17 a knee problem fortunately resolved prevented the continuation of competitive activity and in 1995 he became a ski instructor affiliating himself with the Bormio National Ski School and a coach within the Bormio Ski Club in which he was an athlete for many years.

Even today compatibly with business commitments he still teaches and accompanies Guests of the family hotels to ski on their home slopes.

From a very young age, however, Dario was kidnapped by another exciting passion; flying.

At the age of 17, he obtained his certificate as a pilot of ultralight aircraft; this was followed by a glider pilot's license, a private powered aircraft pilot's license (PPLA) and aerobatics specializations in both specialties, participating in a few national competitions. In 2017, he also obtained the license for conducting remotely piloted aircraft (drone) for commercial purposes. In all these years he has totaled more than 2,000 hours of flight time, and in the first half of 2018 to complete a dream pursued since he was a boy, he is scheduled to obtain a private helicopter pilot's license.(PPLH)

Dario is also a member of the CDA of the Bormio Foundation, which, among other prestigious events, will have the honor of organizing in the "Magnificent Land" the next Milan-Cortina 2026 Winter Olympics and the Alpine Skiing World Cup races that have been held every year in Bormio since the early 1980s.

Lucio Da Zanche,

is an accomplished car driver, multiple Italian Historic Rally Champion and in 2016 with Porsche European Champion; Ferrari test driver and safe driving instructor for Scuderia De Adamich.

Passionate about biking and hiking, he will gladly accompany you on the Valley's trails.

And if you are also attracted to motors you can spend a day on four wheels with Lucio, to share the thrill of driving on the hairpin bends or for some technical driving advice. In winter you can practice with him on the ice rink at the Ice Driving School in Livigno.

Lucio Da Zanche, born in Bormio, class of 1970, has always been an entrepreneur in the tourism sector,is an established car driver and safe driving instructor for Scuderia De Adamich.

Over the years he has been involved in the management of some of the family businesses, including the Taulà restaurant, later to become Filò, the San Vitale hotel and the Nazionale hotel.

Today with Dario and his father he follows the family facilities, where he transfers his Passion for cars and motors with projects related to it, among them the "Petrol Head" project related to Miramonti Park, which he likes to call the first Petrol Head Hotel in the Alps.

He is also the owner of DazzainMotion, a reality aimed at the organization of events related to the automotive industry and which is a common thread with the great Passion Lucio has for rallies, where he has built his long and prestigious career as a driver, in Valtellina among the most successful ever.

He debuted with karts in 1988, but the "real" racing career began in 1994, still on the track with karts. In the specialty he seizes numerous affirmations until 2001.

In 2000 he makes his debut in the world of rallies, immediately distinguishing himself with historic cars. Rallies become the main competitive activity at the wheel of the prestigious cars of the PORSCHE brand. With the 911 models prepared by PENTACAR, Lucio grinds out victories and important placings in FIA European Championship and Italian Championship races, soon becoming one of the reference drivers on the continental scene.

An eclectic driver, his clean and profitable driving is also at its best aboard the powerful and spectacular hill-climb prototypes with which he successfully competes in the Italian Championship (the CIVM), where he participates starting with the Danti Trophy in 2003 and, later, in selected events.

Between PISTA, SALITA and RALLY, the consecration among the greats of the latter specialty comes in 2011 with the conquest of the title of overall Italian Champion, which the talent from Bormio repeated the following year, in 2012, and came close in 2013 (when he still won the title of Italian Champion of 2nd grouping). The historic tris is only postponed, however: with an imperious ride Da Zanche conquers it in 2016.

In between, in 2014, the Valtellina champion launched the challenge to the European Championship. A real adventure that ended with the triumph taken right in the last appointment in Hungary after exciting duels against all the Nordic specialists and numerous victories and placings always at the top of the most important rallies throughout the continent: Sanremo, Elba, Eastern Alps, San Marino, Greece, Finland, Ireland, Spain and precisely Hungary.

The Continental review also saw him a great protagonist in the 2017 season where Lucio obtained third place in the 2nd grouping, but above all he will be remembered for the heated and exciting challenge with his friend rival and former F1 driver Eric Comas.
