Cheese-Making Tour at Alpe Schlappold

Visit Germany’s largest and highest alpine pasture.

Join the herdsman on a cheese-making tour at Alpe Schlappold on the Fellhorn—the highest and southernmost active alpine pasture in the Allgäu— and learn how the milk from the 75 cows is processed here every day in midsummer into delicious mountain cheese.

Registration: No registration required; the tour takes place regardless of weather conditions. There may be wait times.

Meeting point: 11:00 a.m. directly at Alpe Schlappold (approx. 30-minute walk from the Schlappoldsee station)

Cost: Children up to and including age 14: €3.00

Participants age 15 and older: €5.00

After the tour, it’s worth stopping for a hearty snack at the Alpe. Refreshed with a delicious snack, we’ll then head back to the Fellhornbahn.
