Details

Founded in 1981, the Tyrolean Folk Theater Festival remains the premier summer theater festival in Tyrol. In addition to offering new interpretations of classic folk plays, it also regularly provides a stage for exciting works by contemporary and emerging playwrights. Furthermore, since its inception, the festival has sought to engage critically with the major and defining issues of the day. Another distinctive feature of the Tiroler Volksschauspiele is its rotating venues, which are scouted throughout the region for the festival’s consistently high-caliber productions and reimagined for the stage.
