From Gasthof Thanner, we hike through the Brandberg meadows and then along the picturesque Bergmähderweg trail to the Kolmhaus (1,845m). A colorful splendor of flowers and a true butterfly paradise awaits us there, which has been intensively studied by researchers in recent years. The Kolmhaus is a rustic refuge at the entrance to a high valley, with the mighty Brandberger Kolm towering above it. We take a long break and enjoy the view of the Tux and Zillertal Alps. We then walk along the shady forest path back to the sunny village of Brandberg.
Character: Difficult hike, approx. 800 vertical meters there and back
Duration: approx. 7 1/2 hours, including 5 1/2 hours of walking
Meeting point: 7.3 p.m. | Brandberg bus stop (Gasthof Thanner)
