Weitental: Valley of idyll and floral splendor

Colored alpine flowers, a waterfall and guaranteed marmots

After a short gondola ride to the Sommerbergalm, our exciting tour begins. The first section takes us up the Tux-Welten adventure trail. We leave this and can already see the Tuxer-Joch-Haus, which offers great views of the surrounding mountains. From the refuge, we descend into the idyllic Weitental valley, which has so much to offer. In addition to the many colorful alpine flowers, the valley is home to a large population of marmots. We are sure to see them feeding, playing or sunbathing. Another highlight is the gorge at the end of the valley. The hiking trail follows the stream, which carves deeper and deeper into its bed and plunges over the Schleier waterfall. From the waterfall, we comfortably return to Hintertux through alpine pastures and sparse mountain forest.

Character: circular tour on paths and trails (300 m ascent, 800 m descent)

Duration: approx. 6 hours; 5 hours of pure walking time

Meeting point: 9.00 am Hintertux, cairn at the ticket office of the glacier lift
