Ferrata basic course
The basic course for all via ferrata climbers and mountaineers.
In this weekend course, our state-certified mountain guides will teach you basic alpine knowledge for safe behavior on the mountain. Contents include choosing the right equipment and how to use it, walking and stepping techniques in the rock, behavior on the mountain, safety with regard to alpine dangers.
The training starts on Saturday morning in our natural rock climbing garden. At lunchtime, we will head up to the Kanzelwand for a taster via ferrata - where the first skills will be tested and consolidated. After an overnight stay in the valley, skills are further developed on Sunday during a via ferrata day tour and techniques are refined together with the mountain guide.
When: 2 days, Saturday to Sunday, 23.05.2026 to 04.10.2026
Time & meeting point: 10.00 am, Bergschule Kleinwalsertal, Walserstrasse 262, 6992 Hirschegg
Min./Max. participants: 5 - 6 people (children only from 12 years)
Condition: Ankle-high hiking boots, weather-appropriate clothing, sufficient drinks.
Important information: Ascents of up to 1,000 meters in altitude, walking time between 6 and 8 hours, depending on the weather, trail conditions and the fitness of the group.
