Description
See how the popular Pirker gingerbread is made from honey, spices, and a great deal of craftsmanship. From the glass-enclosed visitor walkway, you can follow every step—from mixing and rolling out the honey dough to filling, decorating, and packaging the finished treats.
Spanning over 3,500 m², the erLebzelterei showcases traditional gingerbread craftsmanship in a modern setting and lets you look right over the shoulders of the gingerbread makers as they work. Just 150 meters from the basilica, in the direction of the cable car, more than 80 different types of gingerbread are crafted behind glass—including artfully inscribed hearts and sweet, one-of-a-kind creations with icing. Tours are available daily from May through December—except on Sundays and holidays—without an advance reservation and are a treat for the whole family.
