Kneipp Hike on the Glacier Trail

Description

Together with hiking guide Theo, we set out on a beautiful hike through the Langtaufer Valley along the Glacier Nature Trail. We start at the parking lot in Melag, which we reach via our hotel shuttle. First, we hike leisurely into the valley. After about 300 meters, we turn onto hiking trail No. 3 at the trail junction. This is followed by a short but somewhat steep ascent of about 180 meters in elevation. On the way to the Weisskugelhütte, we’ll take a dip in the stream.

Afterward, we’ll continue on to the Schafberghütte at 2,354 m; the trail is pleasant and offers great views. From there, we hike to the Weißkugelhütte, where an impressive view of the surrounding mountains awaits us: the Weißkugel, Bärenbartkogel, Freibrunnerspitze, and Langtauferer Spitze.

The return route winds down via switchbacks to the Karlinbach. Afterward, we’ll stop for a leisurely break at the Melager Alm and enjoy a hearty meal. The final stretch back to the parking lot is completely flat—ideal for winding down the hike.
