Transfer to the starting point by hotel bus... The Dobratsch, also known as Villacher Alpe, is a 2166 meter high mountain in Carinthia, Austria. It forms the eastern foothills of the Gailtal Alps and lies to the west of Villach. The area has been protected as a nature park since 2002. The Dobratsch is not only a popular excursion destination for hikers and nature lovers, but also an important drinking water and thermal water reservoir for the region. The Dobratsch Nature Park is home to diverse flora and fauna, including rare plant and animal species such as sand vipers, scorpions, bats, over 1,100 butterfly species and 125 bird species. Speleologists also get their money's worth, as the mountain is home to over 200 caves with rare species. The Villach Alpine Road leads up the Dobratsch and offers a wonderful panoramic road with many great views. There are also several managed huts on the mountain that invite you to stop for a bite to eat.
