Guided sunrise hike to the Schuhflicker—moderate difficulty—with Jennifer

The trail to the Arltörl—the deepest pass between Großarl and Dorfgastein—used to serve as a trade route. There is a small chapel right at the Arltörl.

The trail then leads you to the Schuhflicker, one of three limestone peaks here in the Großarl Valley. According to legend, two cobblers were turned to stone here because they preferred to hike in the mountains on Sunday rather than spend Sunday morning in church (which is why the Schuhflicker has two peaks).

Numerous climbing routes also lead up to the Arlspitze, which is the front peak.

From the Schuhflicker, you have a very beautiful view of the Schuhflickersee. It is remarkable that this lake has no inflow or outflow, yet the water level remains constant. According to legend, it is connected underground to the Tappenkarsee in Kleinarl, after a wagon wheel that fell into the Tappenkarsee was supposedly found suddenly in the small Schuhflickersee...
