Description
The Baroque Cistercian monastery in Stams is visible from afar in the central Upper Inn Valley, south of the Inn River. The abbey church, with its princely crypt, magnificent pulpit, impressive vaulted ceilings and murals, and what is arguably its most famous work of sacred art—the Tree of Life Altar—is a centerpiece of Tyrolean culture. The museum’s galleries feature a broad selection of the most significant objects from the various collection areas, presented to the public as a permanent exhibition. The abbey garden and the Schwarzfischer restaurant below the abbey are the perfect places to reflect on the many impressions over a cup of coffee.
