Walk to the pilgrimage church of St. Coloman in Hohenschwangau

Description

St. Coloman was an Irish pilgrim around the turn of the millennium, who is reported in about 80 manuscripts. According to tradition, he is said to have rested on the spot where the Schwangau pilgrimage church of St. Coloman now stands.

When exactly the first small Coloman chapel was built is unfortunately unknown. Towards the end of the 15th century, the Gothic chapel was probably expanded, if not rebuilt. On August 8, 1495, suffragan bishop John of Augsburg gave it the ecclesiastical consecration.

St. Colomans church is located at Colomanstraße 1, 87645 Schwangau and is only about 25 minutes walk from our hotel.

Unfortunately, the church cannot be visited daily. We will be very happy to inform you at our reception.
