Packing list for your family vacation (from Familotel)

Preparing for a relaxing family vacation doesn't always have to be stressful. With this prepared vacation packing list, you will be able to pack your suitcase stress-free and travel to your family vacation very relaxed.

Travel preparation for the vacation

- All-round car check

If you are going on a longer trip by car, it is best to plan an all-round check of the car before your vacation. It is particularly important to check the oil level, tire pressure (and spare wheel pressure), coolant, windscreen water and windscreen wiper blades.

- Snow chains compulsory

If you have chosen a vacation destination in a snowy area in the winter months, please check in advance whether it is a country where snow chains are compulsory.

- Guardian of your property

Clarify in advance who will empty your letterbox and/or look after your plants and animals while you are away

- Insurance details

Don't forget your insurance card, your car insurance number for emergencies and your ADAC membership card if applicable. You should also check that the child seats are correctly installed.

- Personal details

Check the validity of your identity card approx. two months before your vacation, if necessary extend / apply for a new one. Also take a look at your health insurance card and the expiration date (international health insurance)

- Favorite toys

Take lots of things your baby/child knows - e.g. pacifier, favorite toy, blanket, music box, etc.

- Clothes for all situations

Sufficient warm and airy outfits, e.g. hat and cap

- Care products for big and small

Diapers, washcloths, wet wipes for on the go, handkerchiefs, toothbrush, toothpaste, dental floss, shampoo, shower gel, comb and hairbrushes, creams, nail scissors, nail file, deodorant, hand mirror, monthly hygiene articles, cotton swabs, cotton pads, make-up utensils, etc.

- Baby meal accessories

Bottle/drinking cup, spoon

- Waste bags

Resealable plastic bags for dirty diapers and waste

- Changing facilities

Foldable changing mat so that you can freshen up your child on the go

- Provisions for the journey

If you are traveling a long distance to your vacation destination, it is advisable to pack your usual food

Travel first-aid kit packing list

If you have any complaints on vacation, you can ask at reception (in the Familotel) for a doctor nearby. The staff will be happy to help you, but will not dispense any medication.

- All medication (in sufficient quantities) that parents & children need regularly

- Vaccination record of all family members for emergencies

- Note down the telephone number of the pediatrician at home and at the vacation destination

- Sunscreen - especially for children with at least SPF 30 and micropigments

- Means to prevent insect bites. (However, the best protection is clothing)

- Remedies for nausea, diarrhea and vomiting

- Digital clinical thermometer

- Pain and fever-reducing medication (preferably in the form of juice, as suppositories melt in hot temperatures)

- Cold or warm compress for burns, insect bites or stomach ache

- Tweezers and scissors

- Disinfectant for cleaning wounds

- Dressing material (gauze bandages, elastic bandages, plasters (also waterproof))

- Wound and healing ointment

- Ointment for sprains and bruises

- Cold remedies and sage tea for sore throats

- Saline nose drops, which have a decongestant effect

- Calming tea or juice based on lemon balm or valerian for nervousness or insomnia

- Globules if necessary

Packing list for a beach vacation

- Sunscreen for adults and especially for children with a sun protection factor of at least 30, after-sun care products

- Airy cotton shirts for parents and children

- Sun hat with wide brim (to protect head, face and neck)

- Sunglasses for adults and children (to protect the eyes from harmful UV rays. Pay attention to UV-400 and the CE marking)

- Bathing shoes

- Towel and a change of swimwear (it is best to take off wet clothes after bathing, otherwise there is a risk of catching a cold)

- Separate swim diaper for the little ones

- Small first aid kit (plasters, disinfectant, tweezers, cooling gel for sunburn and insect bites)

- Bathing toys such as a beach ball, bucket, shovels and molds

- Water wings for the first attempts at swimming

- Books for parents and picture book/reading book for the little ones

Winter vacation packing list

- Lip balm

- Blister plasters

- Handkerchiefs

- Sun cream (don't underestimate the sun in the mountains)

- Buff / multifunctional scarf

- Functional underwear

- Fleece pullover

- Waterproof gloves, hat, scarf (two of each are advisable)

- Ski equipment: skis and/or snowboard, ski poles, ski or snowboard boots, winter jacket, snow pants, helmet (compulsory in Austria for children and young people up to 15 years of age), ski or snowboard goggles, ski socks, ski underwear

- Winter shoes (also pack a change of shoes)

- hand warmer

- Headlamp / flashlight + batteries

- Recommendation: electric boot dryer, sole warmer, Grid-it organizer, name label in ski clothing and own ski equipment (if your child takes part in the ski school)

In our Familotels you don't need to think about all kinds of baby equipment, because all our baby hotels provide the following items free of charge for their guests.

- Age-appropriate baby care from 3 months (during the opening hours of the Happy Club)

On request, you can borrow a children's stool for the bathroom or board games.

By the way: washing machines and dryers (for a fee) are available for you to do your laundry in between. So your vacation with a baby remains carefree - even if something goes wrong.
