Tour description:
From the starting point, the trail initially leads at a leisurely pace along the forest road toward Gasserkofel to the Seespitzhütte (2,327 m). After a possible rest at the hut, follow the marked trail further across alpine meadows and up a short steep section to the impressive Oberseitsee (2,576 m). The crystal-clear mountain lake lies in a wide cirque below the Seespitze and captivates with its impressive high-mountain backdrop—an ideal spot for a relaxing break.
The descent then follows the same route back via the Seespitzhütte to the Jagastube in St. Jakob.
Tip: A stop at the Seespitzhütte is ideal for a bite to eat before the ascent to Oberseitsee or as a leisurely way to round out the hike. From the hut’s terrace, an impressive panoramic view of the Defereggental valley unfolds.
