Description
The Valtellina glaciologist Riccardo Scotti, scientific head of the Lombard Glaciological Service and coordinator for Lombardy of the Italian Glaciological Committee, will take us on a journey of discovery of Alpine glaciers, true archives of the climatic past and at the same time dramatic witnesses of the environmental crisis we are experiencing.
Through data, photographs, and videos, we will explore the evolution of glaciers over the last two centuries, their accelerated retreat in recent decades, and the consequences on the environment, Alpine communities, and the balance of our ecosystem.
A focus will also be dedicated to permafrost and its progressive degradation, with direct implications on the hydrogeological structure of our mountains.
