As one of the few limestone peaks, the 2,356 m high Draugstein occupies a special position in the landscape amidst the grassy mountains of the Grossarl Valley. With its semi-circular shape and steeply sloping north face, it is as good as visible from almost all peaks in the Grossarl Valley and far beyond. The panorama from the Draugstein is breathtaking; once turned on its own axis, with the right distant view, you have the feeling that you are probably overlooking half of Austria.
