The beautiful mountain pine trail on the Villanderer Alm leads through a truly unique landscape and also offers a great panorama over the Dolomites.
Route description:
The starting point is the parking lot "Saltnerstein" at the Gasserhütte (1,744 m). Follow the ascending footpath 6/15 in the direction of Mair in Plun. In the mountain pine fields, after the reservoir, turn right at the first crossroads and follow trail no. 24 to the beautifully situated Almgasthaus Am Rinderplatz (1,799 m). Following path no. 23 you reach the alpine road no. 15 where you then follow the signs "Laschenweg - Sentiero Pino Mugo". The path then leads via Mair in Plun (1,860 m) in a northerly ascending direction to the alpine pasture. Shortly after, walk along the footpath branching off to the left until you reach Marzuner Schupfe (1,933 m).
Return to the starting point along the alpine road no. 15/6.
The "Latschenkieferweg" leads to the Marzuner Schupfe, where a mountain pine distillery is operated, which can also be visited. During the show distillation interested visitors get an insight into the processing of the mountain pine to essential oil.
