Guided tour through the medieval town of Glorenza/Glurns

Description

The Middle Ages are palpable at every turn. The city walls, with their round corner towers, bear witness to times of war, to the politics of the princes, and to an era when this town served as a hub for the salt trade between southern Germany and Lombardy. The residents of Glorenza also had their own unit of measurement, markets, and the seat of the princely court. What the Pied Piper is to Hamelin, Glorenza’s famous “Mouse Trial” is to Glorenza. The exhibition “Stations of a Small Town” at the museum in the gate tower of Schludern sheds light on the town’s history through the lens of trade and defense, markets, and crafts. The museum also provides access to a section of the defensive walkway that has been preserved since the Middle Ages.
