Sea trout in the Bodental Valley

Description

A picture-perfect natural gem

The Meerauge in the Bodental valley is one of Carinthia’s most impressive natural wonders. Tucked away in the Karawanken Mountains, this small, turquoise-blue shimmering pond lies at 1,052 meters above sea level and captivates visitors with its extraordinary color. The Meerauge was formed during the last Ice Age as a so-called dead ice hole and is still considered one of Carinthia’s most mysterious places. A well-maintained boardwalk leads directly to the water and offers beautiful views of this natural monument.

The Meerauge is perfect for a leisurely stroll or as part of a hike to the famous Märchenwiese in the Bodental valley. The route winds through a beautiful mountain landscape with lush meadows, clear streams, and impressive views of the Karawanken Mountains.
